My
client is a global enterprise with 2 primary business segments and
revenues with recent acquisitions exceeding $ 11.7 billion US in 2008.
Customers outside the U.S. account for nearly half of sales. The two
primary segments include: Defense Electronics & Services Group (top
10 U.S. defense contractor providing defense and security systems,
advanced technologies and operational services for military and
civilian customers),and Fluid and Motion Control (They are the world’s
largest supplier of pumps and systems to transport, treat and control
water and other fluids as well as a global manufacturer of highly
engineered, mission-critical components for the transportation,
aerospace, defense, marine, and industrial markets).

Reporting to the Chief Tax Officer, the Tax Director - Europe, will be
responsible for European statutory and European / U.S. GAAP accounting
process, developing creative European tax planning initiatives,
assisting in implementing U.S. tax planning initiatives, and
representing our interests in tax controversies in European
jurisdictions. This is a senior level position with a based between
$110K and $140K.

* List the essential functions and major activities in order of their importance:

* Deep understanding of European statutory reporting and GAAP (IFRS) accounting.

* Good familiarity with U.S. GAAP accounting and U.S. tax accounting processes (particularly FAS109 / FIN48).

* Develop creative European tax planning initiatives and help to
resolve key tax issues which affect the company’s effective tax rate.

* Assist in implementing U.S. tax planning initiatives and aspects of
acquisitions and divestitures outside the U.S, including the optimum
structure for such transactions in order to minimize taxes.

* Ensure the businesses maintain up-to-date tax expertise and awareness of European jurisdiction laws and their impact.

* Represent the company’s interests in tax controversies in European jurisdictions .

* Lead or participate in various other projects as designated.

* Maintain strong relationship with business units. Interface with
outside tax consultants (public accounting and legal tax counsel) and
other professional associates in the exchange of tax information.


A) Minimum professional and educational background desired (include years of experience)

* 15+ years of international tax experience.

* Accounting degree required; tax degree preferred.

* Experience with European statutory and GAAP (IFRS) reporting as well
as income tax reporting standards, including FAS 109, FAS 141, FAS
123R, IAS 12, FIN 48, and FAS 123R, among others.

* Experience in a complex, U.S. multinational environment.
