Dear ECE members,
The ECE just quietly celebrated our third year. During that time we have never charged any corporate issuer, provider or academic member anything to keep this site going. While we can certainly keep that model going forward, a reasonable capital infusion will allow us to improve the site in many ways. We need your assistance in determining our next steps.
There are several ways for the ECE to generate income:
1. Donations (we are not really a "not for profit", nor are we a "for profit", so this will require some work, but if you want to donate let us know and we will make it happen)
2. Membership fees: Perhaps $5 or $10 a month? Maybe an Annual Member fee of $95?
3. Sponsorships: Annual or Quarterly sponsorships from providers. Perhaps with the ability to have password protected discussions and/or show your ads/logos n the home page.
4. Fee for Job Postings: (this will greatly reduce the postings in this active area of the group.) We are considering $75 per post.
We can do none, one or some combinations of the above. I would like to hear from you by no later than 18 April 2011.
Some of the features we can immediately add with a budget of $5,000-$10,000 per year include:
- Custom Domain Name - perhaps "www.eceonline.com"
- Mobile Device Access - have the entire site more easily accessible from your smart phone or other mobile device.
- Add More Pages - including pages dedicated to specific topics
- Customize the ECE menu.
- Unlimited Subgroups - This would allow paying sponsors to have their own, password protected, subgroup within the ECE
- Premium Permissions - This would allow us to have more control of how can share and access information
- Premium Statistics - Usage, trends, Google Analytics
- Enhanced Security - Full 128-bit SSL encryption
- Ability to pay small fees for originally written content
- Ability to offset some the time and effort spent by managers who keep this site running
Please respond directly to this discussion (or via email at dwalter@performensation.com).
- Will any of the potential charges make you more or less likely to use the ECE site?
- Which, if any, of the upgrade features listed above would improve your member experience?
- Would ANY amount of fees cause you to stop being a member?
- Is the ECE fine "just the way it is"?
- Any other comments are also welcome
Thanks for your help and we are looking forward to three more great years as our industry sees the recovery of the stock market, the growth of performance equity and, most likely, about a million new rules and regulations around the world.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Dan Walter
