Stock based compensation plans for sport clubs

Hello,
Do any of the International Sport Clubs (Arsenal, Manchester United, Los Angeles Lakers etc) in the United States or Europe, offer stocks to their players as a part of their contractual compensations??? Do these leagues use stocks to align the interest of the player with that of shareholders? Can any one provide any inputs on such schemes?
Cheers

You may want to contact someone in the Turner Broadcasting compensation department. When they owned the baseball and hockey teams they did grant equity but I don't the details of their specific compensation plans. The players can be compelx becuse they are union and they may have only granted to management. I am sure they can shed some more detailed light for you.
I always wondered about this but decided that (at least in soccer) the wages of the top players (Ronaldo, Messi, Rooney, Fabregas, Torres) were so high (Euro 20 million plus per year) that they were actually wealthier than the club so unless you gave them substantial number of shares (say 10 to 20% per player) it wouldn't really be an incentive and giving that number of shares to one player isn't feasible. David Beckham for example is looking to buy an entire club in the US out of his ready cash when he retires!!
