Recruiters - Should they be allowed to join?

Should we allow recruiters to join the ECE?

1. We can restrict them to only posting jobs and connecting to people they already know.

2. We can ensure that if they violate these rules they can be reported and, if required, removed.

3. It will give all of us information about new opportunities that we may otherwise not know of.

Rather than having recruiters join the group, could we all share information about those search professionals we would recommend to one another, and, about positions we are trying to fill? I was once upon a time long ago a recruiter so I appreciate the value add to them that this group might provide but I am not sure that the value add to us as practitioners is equal such that they should have membership. I belong to another network like this one and we don't allow recruiter members but we certainly know who the good ones are, and refer both candidates and business to them.

No.

I think allowing recruiters to join will dilute the group's true intention. I do like the idea of limiting their access to postings and connecting only with people they already know.

no, let's keep this forum focused on equity

No - I would prefer if we only share open positions or contacts with recruiters.

No. Let us keep this group focused on discussions related to equity.

Absolutely not.

YES

When asked by recruiters to join ECE, I have told them that ECE is for those practicing in the field and provides a place to exchange ideas etc, thus we're not accepting recruiters. I've also told them that if they have an appropriate position they're trying to fill that I'd be happy to post it for them, and have. Few have stomped away, more have been appreciative of the assistance.

ECE is growing rapidly, with tons of information. It's not broke, lets not fix it! We're definitely not hurting for members, new ones come in daily.

Taeho

I belong to a number of other blog sites (e.g., school and company alumni).  There are so many postings on them from recruiters and other advertisers that I have started dropping my membership in those sites.  Please keep ECE just for practitioners.

If they can be required only to post equity comp related positions, I'd be in favor.

There are other sites recruiters can use to post open positions, i.e., NASPP, SVC NASPP, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.  Let's keep this site for discussion only.
