Keeping your skills fresh

I have participated in a few ECE discussions to stay engaged on the issues of the day.
Along with trying to keep up with the issues of the day, I'd like to find a way to keep my technical skills honed. Specifically my excel skills. Quite often the spreadsheets we work with can be extremely large and difficult to replicate for purposes of honing my skills to keep them fresh.
If you have any suggestions about how I can maintain my technical skills while seeking employment, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Taheo,
There was a great presentation on using Excel that was done for the Silicon Valley NASPP All-day. I bet someone has a softcopy of it.
If anyone has a soft copy of the presentation that Dan is referring to, I would appreciate a copy of it. Thanks so much!
UPDATE on Excel Resources: 29 Sep 2009
For anyone who is a member of WorldatWork: There is an excellent training series on "Excel for Total Rewards Professionals."
I have reachd out to them to see if they will let me post any or all of it here, but if you are already a WorldatWork member, you can log in and access it any time you want.
Update 2: At this time the NASPP has decided not to allow us to post the Excel training that they created (mentioned in my 2 Sep 2009 posting).
You may, however, be able to get a copy by contacting Robyn Shutak of the NASPP directly.
