Introduction
The matters of participant communication, education and decision support has had to take a back seat to various mandated administrative tasks in recent years. However, companies must never lose sight of the two fundamental reasons for granting equity compensation: 1) the motivation and retention of key employees, and 2) to align the interests of employees with the interests of share holders.
It is generally accepted by stock plan professionals that the realization of these objectives is a function of the collective understanding, appreciation and perceived value of a program by its participants. Yet, there is much debate on the best methods to accomplish this.
As the moderator of this forum, I invite ECE members to share their thoughts and experiences on the topics of participant communication, education and decision support.
