More incentives upside and downside that reward for recovery of business fundementals not "home runs".
The mix of shareholders needs to change to more individuals who will take an active interest in how the company is run thus holding mgmt accountable for executing on the basics that support long term incremental growth.
John's thought is nice but not real. Some retired couple is not going to really monitor the activities of the companies that they hold stock in. In this case you have to rely on institutional investors and I have little hope of their active participation as a general rule
